The Emporia Community Foundation is continuing to write checks to a number of recipients in the community.
Executive Director Becky Jeppesen joined KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 program Wednesday and highlighted scholarships given out to area students in Lyon County.
In addition, the foundation has provided a little under $4,000 to 13 Chase County students in the college access program. Those dollars are provided to students taking college courses while in high school.
Jeppesen says the foundation is also preparing for Match Day Nov. 12. A major change this year will be the ability for folks to donate online the day of.
That change, she says will speed up the time it takes for the community foundation to determine how much each organization receives. Last year 24 organizations received over $210,000 at the Emporia Match Day check presentation.
Several grant deadlines are approaching as well. The deadline to apply for the Clint Bowyer 79 Fund is Aug. 15. Applications for Emporia Community Foundation grants are being accepted through September. Applications are available at emporiacf.org.
