USD 252 Southern Lyon County is narrowing its focus on improving performance at both the elementary and secondary education levels.

During the USD 252 Board of Education meeting Monday evening, board members received an update regarding graduation pillars that include data from the District Accountability Reports on Post Secondary Effectiveness, State Assessments, Map Testing, and Graduation Rates. The data presented indicated that all district buildings were performing above the state average, a proud accomplishment for the district according to Superintendent Mike Argabright.

Argabright went on to say that he feels they can still perform higher and says the district currently has two key focuses for the elementary and secondary levels to accomplish this.

Argabright adds the district is planning to build upon its success on the ACT and ACT Workkeys assessments and connect those efforts to improved relationships with post-secondary institutions and workforce job placement opportunities both locally and around the state of Kansas. He says these efforts will increase the district's ability to provide its students with the necessary tools to be successful following graduation.

In other business, board members discussed missed days due to recent inclement weather, COVID-19 updates and financial reports. Bid proposals and potential upgrades also saw attention.
