Former Reebles South property under new ownership Tagan Trahoon/KVOE News

The former Reeble's South grocery store at 115 Commercial Street now has a new owner.

According to Lyon County Register of Deeds Wendy Weiss the property was purchased by husband and wife Alonso Villasenor and Patricia Morales and Maribel Santoyo of Allen, TX on Dec. 18.

KVOE is in the process of contacting the new owners for more details on the purchase.

The building served as the home of the Reebles Country Mart South location for around ten years before it closed its doors back in the summer of 2014. Among the reasons listed for the closure were a decline in sales at the time as well as increased government regulations.

The closure in 2014 came as the City of Emporia was in the process of studying overall market trends as part of the development process for the Emporia Pavillions in the northwest section of town. The Pavillions development plan initially included a supermarket, however, that plan was later altered after research showed the grocery market was already heavily saturated.

The property was previously owned by Richard and Colleen Miller.
