Eureka Nursing Center is battling a coronavirus outbreak.

Currently there are 17 active cases with 22 residents testing positive overall. Two residents have died. Twelve staffers have been infected. Eight are on leave recovering at home.

The center says a staff member tested positive Nov. 25, prompting an in-room quarantine for all residents and the campus-wide use of N-95 masks by staff as well as the use of gloves and eye protection in resident rooms. Residents, meanwhile, have been receiving daily wellness checks since March and are now checked every four hours during normal waking hours for symptoms.

Meanwhile, Diversicare of Council Grove has 49 patients listed as COVID-positive in its latest update Wednesday. Diversicare has not announced how many staffers are impacted.

Also, Osage County's overall caseload increased from 557 Monday to 589 Thursday. Active cases increased from 73 to 79. The number of deaths remained at six.
