Many local residents have been curious as to why they have yet to receive their 2020 real estate tax statements.

According to County Treasurer Sharon Gaede, processing of those statements hit a slight snag this year.

Thankfully, Gaede says the statements have been sent out and should be hitting residents' mailboxes at some point this week. According to Gaede, there was also a slight error with the statements that led to some residents being overcharged, however, that error has since been resolved.

According to state statute, the statements must be mailed out by Dec. 15 with the first half of taxes due by Dec. 20 and the second by May 10. If residents do not receive their statements by the end of this week, Gaede says residents should call the County Treasurer's Office at 620-341-3255.

Residents may also visit the Treasurer's web page on the county website at Lyoncounty.org.
