As rainfall continues across the KVOE listening area, so to do flooding concerns.  

The Cottonwood River in Cottonwood Falls has been placed into a warning until 8:45 am Saturday.  As of 10:30 pm Thursday the river was at 8.6 feet just slightly below the flood stage of 9 ft.   The river is expected to crest at 10.8 ft by Friday morning. 

At 11 ft flooding could occur in Bates park. 

Flood warnings continue for Chase County until 12:45 pm Friday and Morris County until 1:45 am Friday.

Chase County Sheriff Rich Dorneker tells KVOE News flash flooding was reported on some county roads located just west of Strong City and Middle Creek Road.  Barricades have also been placed on county roads in and around Elmdale and Middle Creek due to water on the roadways.   

Motorists are reminded to not try and pass flooded roads or streets and to be extra vigilant in the evening and overnight hours.  Stay with KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media for more updates as they become available.
