Before the official rollout of the state's guidance for school districts in dealing with COVID-19 Wednesday afternoon, The Kansas State Board of Education plans to take action on the document Wednesday morning.

"Navigating Change 2020" is designed to give schools an overall framework for how to educate students with coronavirus still affecting education and all other aspects of life for the foreseeable future. The nearly 1,100-page document offers instructional guidance based on so-called grade bands as well as operational guidance on everything from facilities to food service to transportation to co-curricular activities.

KVOE News has reached out to area superintendents for their perspective. Kansas Education Commissioner Randy Watson will detail the plan during Governor Laura Kelly's news conference at 3 pm Wednesday. Health Secretary Lee Norman will also provide insight into the latest COVID-19 stats. You can hear that news conference on 14 KVOE, 96.9 FM and KVOE.com.
