Suspects charged in June shooting have hearings delayed to August

The three men accused of a shooting in west Emporia last month had hearings in the case postponed.

Edgar Gonzalez, Hector Velazquez and William Walters were all set for preliminary hearings Tuesday. Those hearings have now been moved to Aug. 19 after at least one defense attorney was unavailable for Tuesday's proceedings.

All three were charged after a 35-year-old woman was shot June 12 at 1213 Beverly.

Walters is charged with aggravated battery, aggravated burglary of a dwelling, aggravated kidnapping, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.

Velazquez is charged with aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, aggravated kidnapping, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.

Gonzalez is charged with aggravated battery and aggravated burglary.
