The hits keep coming for local operations thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.

Effective Monday, all city of Emporia offices will be closed to the general public.  While the public will not be permitted inside city offices all departments will continue their operations via email, telephone, dropbox or mail.

In a news release Friday, the city of Emporia states the closure is a part of the city's efforts to continue conducting daily business while also ensuring the safety of staff and residents alike through social distancing.  The announcement follows the same action by Lyon County Commissioners Thursday morning which also closed all county offices to the general public effective Friday morning until further notice.
