The United States is currently in a severe blood shortage and the Red Cross is asking for your help.

The blood drive that was supposed to be held at Emporia High on Thursday was moved to the Flint Hills Mall and despite the quick change in venue managed to bring in 66 pints of usable blood. According to Redcross spokesperson Susan Faler this has the potential to save 198 lives, or 3 lives per pint.

Faler says that even though blood drives are being moved from schools, student support is still a necessity.

The next blood drive in Emporia is slated for April 6th at the Flint Hills mall. For more information on upcoming blood drives, or how you can schedule your appointment visit or call 1-800-REDCROSS.
