Mobilizing Literacy 4 Lyon County Families and the Kansas Masonic Literacy Center are partnering on a new literacy event.

The groups are participating in World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday, and they are encouraging people to go to social media to track different videos of adults reading to kids. On KVOE's Newsmaker segment Monday, Mobilizing Literacy Family Liaison Jodi Case said this will be a rather unique celebration of literacy.

Short videos of adults reading children's books will be posted every hour starting at 10 am on both the Mobilizing Literacy and Masonic Literacy Center Facebook pages.

Separately, both groups are pleased noted children's author Alastair Heim will be in Emporia on Saturday after his original appearance date last month had to be rescheduled due to poor weather. Activities will be at the Emporia Public Library from 9 to 11:30 am.

In addition, the annual Little Learners Math Science Grow Expo will be Feb. 20 at Flinthills Mall.
