Court proceedings in a child neglect case that originated in Greenwood County last year are currently on hold due to proceedings elsewhere.

Janie Gill, the woman accused of leaving her autistic grandson at a rest area in Greenwood County back in November of 2018, is facing charges in both Greenwood and Oklahoma for the crime. Gill was charged last year with child endangerment and interference with law enforcement in Kansas. She was later charged with child neglect in Rogers County, Okla.

KVOE has recently reached out to both areas for an update on Gill's case with the Greenwood County Attorney's Office reporting she was still in Oklahoma. According to the Rogers County Attorneys office, Gill has not appeared in Oklahoma since May of this year.

The Rogers County Attorneys office says she has been corresponding with them through written letters with one indicating she was incarcerated inside the Phelps County Jail in Ralla, Mo. as of November. The Phelps County Attorneys Office has confirmed Gill is currently in the custody of the Phelps County Sheriff on charges of forgery and disturbing the peace.

Gill's next court appearance will be on Jan. 24, 2020 in Phelps County. Once proceedings have concluded in Phelps County, proceedings will continue in Oklahoma and Kansas.
