The parade will be taking place Tuesday evening on Commercial Street. Activities get underway at 6 pm with musical performances by the Emporia High School Chorale before the annual invocation, lighting ceremony and benediction at 6:30 pm in front of the Chamber building at 719 Commercial.
The parade will then follow with over 80 entries this year all led by Parade Marshall and Emporia Police Chief Scott Cronk. Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce President Jeanine McKenna says with this year's parade theme being "a Superhero Christmas" Chief Cronk was the obvious choice for Parade Marshall.
McKenna says the annual parade is "so much fun" for organizers, however, it is no easy feet as there are, no pun intended, several moving pieces.
The parade officially gets underway at 7 pm. This is the 42nd annual Emporia Christmas Parade which will be broadcast online at KVOE TV at KVOE.com, on air on KVOE 1400 am and 96.9 fm and ValuNet Fiber channel 3.
