Abate of Kansas District 12 is getting set for a special motorcycle ride this weekend to benefit a young local cancer patient and his family.

The ride will take place Saturday starting at 9 am from 602 S. Exchange Street in Emporia. The cost to take part in the ride is $20 and includes lunch.

According to Abate member Deb Fuller, the organization puts on two events each year, the annual motorcycle show which provides the majority of their budget and a fundraiser such as Saturday's. The annual fundraiser supports a specific cause each year and this year all funds will go to benefit young Ethan Frisbee, who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia just before Christmas of last year.

Fuller is happy to say at this time Ethan is in remission following several rounds of chemotherapy. The funds will help to cover the cost of additional treatments and expenses for Ethan and his family.

Fuller says this event is not just for motorcycle riders. She says if you do not own a motorcycle and would still like to participate in the ride you may drive your car, truck or any motor vehicle you own.
