The annual Great American Market kicked off with massive success Saturday morning and saw that trend continue throughout the day.

This huge event has been lining up Emporia Main Street for 18 years now. People can buy or sell anything from collectibles, antiques, artwork, crafts, food, and everything else. Emporia Main Street Director Casey Woods says it's the community that makes it successful.

The streets were so crowded that, in some places walking shoulder-to-shoulder was a necessity. Many people travel from all across the nation to take part, and some even come from different countries. Matfield Green native Katherine Swift-Dean's visit to the Market was a happy accident.

This year is the event's biggest so far with around 200 vendors lining up Main Street from 6th Avenue to 11th Avenue. Woods anticipates next year's Market to be even bigger, as vendors have already started submitting applications for 2020.
