Enrollment is now underway for a federal program designed to help ag producers hard hit by the ongoing trade war between the United States and China.

Enrollment for the Market Facilitation Program goes through Dec. 6. The United States Department of Agriculture plans to offer over $14 billion in directed payments to impacted farmers and ranchers. The payments will be made to those producing certain non-specialty crops, specialty crops, dairy producers and hog producers.

Payments will be limited to a combined $250,000 for non-specialty crops per person or legal entity. The same limit applies for specialty crops as well as dairy and hog producers. The maximum assistance amount any producer or legal entity can receive will be $500,000.
