UPDATE: Driver completely rolls vehicle at downtown Emporia intersection, keeps driving Featured

A unique rollover wreck sent one man to Newman Regional Health for treatment Friday.

Lyon County Deputy Brandon Early says deputies stopped a minivan in the 1100 block of East around 5:20 pm. The minivan was involved in a rollover in the 500 block of Mechanic about five minutes earlier.

The driver, 21-year-old Luis Abundiz-Correa, hometown not listed, was westbound on Sixth when it tried to south onto Mechanic at a high rate of speed. The van overturned, landed upright on its wheels and kept going.

An ambulance took Abundiz-Correa to Newman Regional Health. Authorities say his injuries are not life-threatening. The investigation continues.

6:30 pm Friday: One person taken to Newman Regional Health following injury accident Friday evening

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of an injury accident which sent one person to Newman Regional Health early Friday evening. 

Emergency responders were called to the intersection of 12th Avenue and East Street shortly before 5:30 pm for a reported injury accident.  According to Lyon County Deputy Nolan Kehres, deputies responded to a call of a vehicle rollover which originally occurred at 5th and Mechanic, near the Sheriff's department.  

Kehres says they located the vehicle on East Street and activated their emergency lights to initiate a stop.  According to Kehres, the vehicle was in the process of coming to a stop at the same time.  Kehres says the driver of the vehicle was transported with currently unknown injuries. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.
