The Emporia City Commission hopes to tackle a long list of items when it meets in study session Wednesday morning.

This week's agenda includes an update on state government. Senate Vice President Jeff Longbine and 60th District Representative Mark Schreiber both plan to share information with commissioners. 76th District Representative Eric Smith may also be in attendance.

A discussion on the commission's work goals and strategies over the next two years is planned along with the future White Auditorium alcohol policy. Increases to utility rates will also be discussed for the water fund, wastewater fund and solid waste fund which all would go into effect Jan. 1, 2019.

Other talking points include a discussion on a proposed neighborhood revitalization program, the Prairie Street bridge, the city's KPERS 457 plan and a contract between the city and Emporia Main Street.

Wednesday's meeting starts at 10 a.m. in Conference Room 1AB at White Auditorium.
