The United Way of the Flint Hills got another fundraising boost recently.

On Friday, Wolf Creek held its annual golf tournament. Organizer Vietta Eubanks says Wolf Creek has embraced the United Way's mission and wants to make sure the United Way can support its community partners areawide.

Fundraising totals will be announced by late this week. Thirty teams participated Friday at the Emporia Golf Course.

The golf tournament followed a successful Small Business Blitz, which added roughly $9,000 to the overall fundraising effort on Wednesday, and it precedes the start of Dine United events, where local and area restaurants donate a portion of their proceeds to the cause. The first Dine United is from 11 am to 8 pm this Thursday at Do-B's.

Goal this year is $555,000.
