Deputies receiving reports of political sign thefts and vandalisms

With the general election a little more than a week away, 'tis the season for political signs to disappear or get vandalized.

On KVOE's Morning Show recently, Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope said there have been several reports of political signs either being stolen or defaced. He says there's no set pattern when it comes to this kind of activity.

Vandalisms also qualify as criminal damage, which is a misdemeanor.

Cope encouraged people to leave political signs alone and to get your own signs if you want to display your support of a candidate or cause. If you have concerns about stolen or vandalized political signs, call local law enforcement.
