The Emporia State womens basketball team used a 17-4 at the beginning of the 3rd quarter to turn a 2 point lead into a 15 point advantage on the way to a 82-72 win over Southwest Baptist Wednesday night.
The Lady Hornets led 19-17 at the end of the first quarter and led 38-36 at halftime. Emporia State went on a 14-0 run after Baptist tied the score at the beginning of the 3rd quarter to take a lead they would not give up. Southwest Baptist did cut the lead to 8 in the 4th quarter but could get no closer. In the first half the game was tied 9 times and had 8 lead changes.

Kelly Moten led Emporia State with 21 points. Jacee Kramer added 13 points.

Kelsey Barnwell finished with 11 and Kathryn Flott scored 10. Southwest Baptist was led by Freshman Caylee Richardson with 24 points. The Emporia State women are now 18-5 for the season and 12-5 in MIAA play. The Lady Hornets play at Lincoln on Saturday.
