NWS RELEASES STORM SPOTTER TRAINING SCHEDULE

Severe weather season doesn't officially begin until March, but the National Weather Service offices in Topeka and Wichita have released their schedules for storm spotter training.

 

The training sessions give information on basic thunderstorm development, storm structure, notable cloud features, how to report storm information and basic severe weather safety.

Lyon County

Feb. 23, 6:30 pm: Emporia, Anderson Building

March 2, 6:30 pm: Olpe, Knights of Columbus Hall

 

Chase County

Feb. 24, 6:30 pm: Cottonwood Falls, Senior Center

 

Coffey County

March 3, 7 pm: Burlington, Coffey County Fairgrounds 4-H Building

 

Greenwood County

Feb. 24, 6:30 pm: Eureka, Eureka High School

 

Morris County

Feb. 18, 6:30 pm: Council Grove, Morris County Courthouse

 

Osage County

Feb. 25, 7 pm: Carbondale, Santa Fe Trail High School

 

Wabaunsee County

March 24, 6:30 pm: Alma, Wabaunsee High School
