Emporia State softball gets no spring break

The Emporia State softball team begins a busy spring break week Tuesday. They will be playing 8 games this week beginning with a doubleheader at Northeastern State. The Lady Hornets are 17-13 for the season and 3-1 in MIAA play.

Southwest Baptist sweeps Emporia State tennis

The Emporia State mens and womens tennis teams were swept by nationally ranked Southwest Baptist Monday.
The 19th ranked Southwest Baptist men won all 9 matches played. The 11th ranked Southwest Baptist women also won all 9 matches played. The Emporia State men and women play Harding Tuesday in Springfield, Missouri.

Emporia States Kelly Moten named All-American

Emporia State senior Kelly Moten has added All-American to her list of post season honors. She is a NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association first team selection. That goes along with being named the Central Regional player of the year and the MIAA player and defensive player of the year. The Lady Hornets ended the season 29-5, won their fifth straight MIAA Tournament Championship and played in the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 for the sixth straight year.

Kansas Advances to sweet 16

(espn/ap) Josh Jackson scored 14 of his 23 points in the second half to help Kansas pull away late and reach the Sweet 16 for a second straight year with a 90-70 victory over Michigan State on Sunday.

Emporia State baseball complets sweep of Fort Hays State

The Emporia State baseball team completed a 3 game sweep of Fort Hays State with a 12-0 win over the Tigers in 7 innings Sunday. The Hornets scored 7 runs in the first on 3 hits and 2 errors. They added 1 run in the 2nd, 3 runs in the 3rd and a run in the 5th. The Hornets improved to 19-4 for the season and 8-1 in MIAA play. They are scheduled to host Missouri Western Tuesday with first pitch at 4pm.

Emporia Kids wresting sending 15 to State

15 members of the Emporia Kids wrestling team qualified for state after this weekends district tournament. Xerarch Tungjaroenkul  was the lone district champion. He is a defending state champion.
