The Emporia State Lady Hornet basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 109-39 win over Oklahoma Science and Arts, at White Auditorium, Saturday afternoon.
Emporia State quarterback Brent Wilson is in the running for the top football award in NCAA Division II.
Wilson is one of nearly 40 players in contention for the Harlon Hill Trophy, which goes to D-II's football player of the year in the same vein the Heisman Trophy goes to Division I's best player.

Major League Baseball announced Thursday that the Kansas City Royals will now play their home opener on Sunday April 3rd and will now be the ESPN "Sunday Night Baseball" national opener. The Royals will be hosting the New York Mets in a renewed matchup of the 2015 World Series. The Royals opening homestand will feature 2-games vs. the Mets, followed by a 3-game set with the Minnesota Twins.

The Emporia State football team is putting the final touches on their preparation for Saturdays play-off showdown with Minnesota State. The Mavricks were the runners up last year and are currently ranked 6th in the national coaches poll. This is their 8th play-off appearance and 4th straight year they have advanced to the play-offs.
