Emporia State athletes get the job done in classroom Featured

They were unable to finish the season on the field but the Emporia State softball and baseball teams did finish their work in the classroom.

The Emporia State softball team had 11 players named to the MIAA Academic Honor roll.
Including two that receive the Academic Excellence Award for having 4.0 GPAs, Sydney Righi and Jenna Spence. Coach April Rosales was pleased with the way they continued to take care of the academic side.

The Emporia State baseball team had 16 players named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Coach Seth Wheeler said the players also learned they can survive without baseball.

As a whole Emporia State athletes preformed well in the classroom.
The Athletic Department combined for a record 3.28 GPA.

Five programs had a team GPA of over 3.50 while all programs maintained at least a 3.00 GPA during the spring. A total of 239 of the 344 student-athletes for Emporia State had a 3.0 GPA during the semester while 68 Hornet student-athletes had a 4.0 GPA in the spring.

This is the 23rd straight semester the Hornets have posted at least a 3.0 department wide GPA and the 3.28 is the highest department wide GPA since Emporia State began keeping records of it in 2007.
