The KU womens basketball team out dueled Emporia State 61-53 Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 9-2 lead over Kansas and held the lead for almost the first 9 minutes of play. Emporia State trailed at halftime 33-31. KU used a 11-2 run to start the second half and never looked back. Emporia State struggled to score in the second half hitting only 14 percent of their shots from the floor. The Lady Hornets did make 22 of 24 freethrows while KU was 10-15. They also out rebounded KU 45-42. Merissa Quick led the way with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Laura Patrick added 11 points. Kansas had 4 players score in doublefigures led by CeCe Harper with 15 points. Emporia State next plays in the Tip-Off Classic in Anaheim, California against Indianapolis.
