Emporia High Cross Country runners headed to State

The Emporia High girls cross country team and two members of the boys team earned trips to State at regionals Saturday.

The Emporia High girls finished in 3rd place to qualify for state as a team. Meg Detwiler finished in 4th place to lead the Lady Spartans. Karen Meinholdt finished 15th and Sydney Mohn finished 17th. For the Emporia High boys Seth Tilton finished 15th and Garrett Whitson 20th and qualified for State. The 5A State Cross Country meet will be held next Saturday at Rim Rock Farm near Lawrence.

The Olpe girls placed 2nd at regionals to qualify for state. Kyler True placed 1st and Zach Nuesen 2nd to earn trips to state.

Lindsay Albers of Chase County also qualified for state.  Aundrea Koger of Osage City won her regional race and is headed to state. The Council Grove girls and boys teams also qualified for State.
