34 Unanswered points too much for Chase County

     Onaga scored 34 unanswered points over the final three quarters to beat Chase County 46-22 in Cottonwood Falls Friday night.  Chase County took a 22-12 lead with 37 seconds to play in the first quarter before succumbing to Onaga's power running game.

 

      The Buffaloes racked up 375 yards on the ground, led by quarterback Wyatt Cordell's 156 yards on 17 carries and 148 yards on 25 carries by tailback Michael Bliss.  Bliss scored 4 rushing touchdowns in anchoring the Onaga scoring.

     Chase County helped Onaga's cause in the second half, committing 3 turnovers.  Onaga did their part in keeping the ball out of the Bulldogs' hands with 3 drives lasting 11 plays or more.

    Bulldog quarterback Troy Higgs led the Chase County offense with 84 yards rushing, including a 56-yard touchdown run, but fumbled once.  Higgs threw fro 212 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions.

    Chase County falls to 2-5 on the season, 1-2 in District play.
