Emporia State basketball teams hold first practice

Emporia States basketball teams began preparing for their seasons, they have held their first full scale practices.

 

The Lady Hornets return 3 starters, that includes leading scorer Laura Patrick and leading rebounder Merissa Quick. The other returning starter is senior Rheanna Egli.

Coach Jory Collins says they are ahead of last years pace.

The Emporia State women began the season without 3 players, sophomore Katheryn Flott, freshman Brooke Costley and junior Sarah Wood. Wood is expected back in December.

The Emporia State men also return 3 starters. That includes leading scorer Kaleb Wright.

Leading rebounder Paul Bunch and Gavin Brown are also returning starters. Coach Shaun Vandiver sees two keys to the seasons overall success.

The Lady Hornets tip-off their season October 30th against Central Methodist. The men open their season November 1st at Oklahoma State.
