Kansas Sports Hall of Fame announces 2014 class

The Kansas Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2014 class. It includes two with Emporia State ties, Bill Freeman and Bill Tidwell.


Bill Freeman played football at Emporia State 1949 thru 1953. He later became one of the most successful football coaches in the state winning 8 state titles, 5 at Lawrence High school. He also coached at Osawatomie and LeRoy.

Bill Tidwell was a 4 time NAIA National Champion, winning the 880 and mile runs in both 1955 and 1956. He also later served as the Athletic Director at Emporia State.

The Class will be inducted on October 5th.
