Royals lose in extra innings at San Diego

The San Diego Padres out scored the Kansas City Royals 6-5 in 12 innings Monday night.


The score was tied at 4-4 going to the 12th inning. The Royals took the lead when Salvador Perez scored on a Mike Moustakas single. San Diego scored the tying and go ahead runs on 2 singles and a ground rule double. The Royals lost despite a season high 16 hits. Eric Hosmer drove in three runs with 3 hits. Lorenzo Cain had four hits and Perez each had three. Alcides Escobar finished with two hits and two stolen bases. Greg Holland gave up the game tying homerun in the bottom of the 9th. The Royals and Padres play again Tuesday night.
