The Emporia State softball team needed extra innings to sweep a doubleheader from Nebraska Kearney Saturday.
The Lady Hornets scored 3 unearned runs in the top of the 7th to send the first game to extra innings. Kaitly Caston drove in 2 runs in the 8th to lift Emporia State to a 6-3 win in the first game. In the second game Nebraska Kearney scored 5 runs in the 7th to send the game into extra innings. Emporia State would score 4 runs in the 9th for a 14-10 win. Stephanie Goodwin drove in 4 runs for the Lady Hornets. Emporia State did lose second baseman Taylor Reichard to a broken ankle. The Lady Hornets are now 19-4 for the season and 8-0 in MIAA play. They have won 11 in a row.
