The Emporia State womens basketball team jumped out to a 21-9 lead after the first quarter and never trailed on the way to a 63-49 win over Arkansas Fort Smith Tuesday night.
The Lady Hornets built the lead to 34-19 by halftime. They led 51-38 going to the 4th quarter. Emporia State out scored Fort Smith 24-12 off of turnovers and 15-8 on second chance shots. Coach Jory Collins said the defense set the tone.
Emily Miller scored a game high 16 points to lead the Lady Hornets. Jessica Wayne added 12 points.
Morgan Loudan finished with 11 points. Tiana Moala finished with 8 points and 9 rebounds.She said the team is jelling.
With the win the Lady Hornets improve to 2-1. They next play at Newman in Wichita on November 20th.
