Emporia High Basketball teams sweep Rose Hill

The Emporia High girls and boys basketball teams picked up wins in the opening round of the Garden Plain Tournament Tuesday night, defeating Rose Hill.

 

The Emporia High Girls out scored Rose Hill 18-2 in the 3rd quarter on the way to a 60-41 win.

 

Whitney Wilhite scored a career high 21 points, making 11 consecutive freethrows. Kayna Hastings added 14 points and Raegan Sanchez finished with 10 points to lead the Lady Spartans to their second win of the season.

The Emproia High boys over came a slow start to defeat Rose Hill 43-40. The Spartans trailed 9-2 at the end of the first quarter but would rally to take a 20-17 lead by halftime.

 

John Williams scored a game high 17 points to lead The Spartans. Tanner Taylor finished with 10 points. The Emporia High boys are now 1-1 on the season.

Both the Emporia High girls and boys will continue play in the Garden Plain tournament Friday when they play Hesston at Garden Plain.
