The Emporia State Mens basketball let one slip away Saturday, losing at St. Marys 70-68.
The Hornets had built a 13 point lead with 4 minutes play in the first half only to have St. Marys go on an 11-0 run to close out the first half. In was close throughout the second half. It took a basket by Marvin Whitt with .3 seconds to play to seal the win. Coach Shaun Vandiver called a frustration finish.
Paul Bunch, who fouled out with 7:55 to play in the game was the leading scorer for the Hornets with 13 points. Kaleb Wright and Gavin Brown both scored 12 points and McWisdom Badejo added 10 points. Marvin Whitt was the leading score for St. Marys with 20 points.
The Hornets fall to 6-3, They open MIAA play next Saturday at Northwest Missouri State.
