The Emporia State Lady Hornet basketball team pushed their record to 6-0, beating Midwestern State 77-55 at White Auditorium Saturday night. The Lady Hornets blew open a tie ballgame with a 27-12 run to finish the 1st half.
ESU coach Jory Collins says he challenged his team to win in two specific areas.
Rheanna Egli led four Lady Hornets in double figures with 15 points, adding 5 assists, 3 rebounds, a steal and a block. Egli says coach Collins challenged them to concentrate on stopping the fast break, and they responded.
Laura Patrick poured in 14. Desiree Wylee had 13 points and 9 rebounds. Kionna Kellog finished with 11. And Amber Vandiver added 9 points and a game-high 11 boards. As a team, ESU out-rebounded Midwestern 39-22 and had 24 assists to their 7.
The Lady Hornets are off until next Saturday when they host Southwestern.
