Former Emporia State receiver Austin Willis will be getting his chance to fulfill a dream, to play in the NFL.

The Emporia High baseball, softball, girls soccer and girls swim and dive teams are scheduled to compete on Tuesday.
The Emporia High boys tennis team finished in 8th place at the Centennial league tennis tournament Monday. Individually Ali Nazrazadani finished in 7th place and Zac White in 15th place in singles play. In doubles play Aaron Lane and Xavier Cahoone finished in 15th place and Gabe Lopez and Marco Enriquez finished in 17th place. Manhattan is the team league champion. Up next for the Spartan tennis team will be the regional tournament in Topeka on Saturday.
The Emporia High boys golf team finished in 8th place at the Centennial League tournament Monday. Individually for Emporia High Collin Hopkins had the low score of 82 and finished in 21st place. Josh McAnarney shot an 86, Max Brown a 91 and Braden Schuler a 94. Washburn Rural took team honors and Washburn Rurals Ryan Clatterback took medalist honors with a 70.
The Emporia State softball team did not receive an at large bid to the NCAA tournament. The Lady Hornets had a string of 11 straight NCAA tournament appearances. They finish the season 35-20. Its the 13th straight season they have won 30 or more games.
The Detroit Tigers out scored the Kansas City Royals 6-4 Sunday as the two teams split a 4 game series.
The Emporia State men finished 6th and the women 9th at the MIAA outdoor track and field championships that wrapped up Sunday. Emporia State had 3 individual champions.
Dale Earnhart Jr took the checkered flag at yesterdays NASCAR Sprint Cup Geico 500 at Talladega Sunday. Jimmie Johnson was 2nd and Paul Menard 3rd. Clint Bowyer finished in 30th place. NASCAR will be at Kansas Speedway this coming weekend for a race Saturday night.
