of Sporting Dogs.
Five people and four dogs
participated in the World of Sporting Dog activity with What’s in Outdoors host
Phil Taunton as part of Community Connections at the Flint Hills Technical
College on Saturday. After a short power point presentation concerning sporting
dogs, breeding, training, care and the proper way to introduce a young dog to
the gun in order to prevent gun shyness, the group went outside and
participated in a basic field exercise used to introduce young dogs to birds.
Two of the participants had dogs that had never pointed a pigeon or a raised to
release quail. Both young dogs were pointing birds before the session was over.
Even Psycho Sue and Lil Mern got into the act!
