Former Coffey County deputy found guilty of sex crimes

A former Coffey County deputy has been convicted on multiple child sex charges.
Matthew Vander Linden entered a no contest plea today (Th) to two counts each of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and criminal sodomy. As part of his plea, prosecutors dropped a count of unlawful sexual relations. He will be sentenced Feb. 2, 2018.
Vander Linden was arrested in Dec. 2016 after prosecutors alleged he had sexual intercourse with a then 14-to-16 year old last fall. He was fired following his arrest.
