New charges filed in alleged kidnapping case

Two juveniles accused of kidnapping a teenager last month appeared in Lyon County District Court Tuesday afternoon for pretrial conference hearings.
The state announced amended charges have been filed against 17-year-old Armando Nunez. In addition to a charge of aggravated battery, Nunez faces two additional charges including conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. The prosecutor told Judge Douglas Jones that a motion will be filed to try Nunez as an adult. Nunez is to remain in DCF custody in Lawrence. A review of his detention status will take place on Dec. 19 with his next court hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on Jan. 16 in front of Judge W. Lee Fowler.
The attorney for 17-year-old Daniel Garcia asked for his case to be continued, which was granted. Garcia faces a charge of aggravated kidnapping. His next hearing will also be Jan. 16.
Nunez and Garcia along with 18-year-olds Andrew J. Granado and Samuel Garcia are defendants in the case following an alleged attack on a 17-year-old male in the 1400 block of Road P on Nov. 18. Granado has a preliminary hearing on Thursday at 1:15 p.m. Samuel Garcia has a preliminary hearing Jan. 18 at 1:15 p.m.
