The Lyon County Emergency Communications Center will have a new avenue to market itself in the future.
At Thursday morning's Lyon County Commission meeting 911 director Bill Duggan presented a request to sponsor the Kansas Shockdawgs developmental youth baseball league. Duggan says for $150, a banner will be printed with the 911 center's logo and placed atop the dugout at each game.
Commissioners had a good discussion and ultimately decided the funding should come from non-taxpayer dollars either from the park and recreation fund or court trustee fund.
In other business, commissioners approved was a quote from Mel's Tire totaling $20,832 for 24 Bridgestone VUT motor grader tires to be paid from the Road & Bridge Fund. The county commission also accepted a support letter from the Lyon County Historical Society seeking a grant for the Howe House through the Kansas Heritage Trust.
The next Lyon County Commission meeting will take place Oct. 26.
