A picture perfect night made conditions ideal for the Lunar Kanza activities in downtown Emporia Saturday.
Just over 300 people participated in the fourth annual ride under the moonlight including Jennifer Stone of Enid, Oklahoma, who made her first trip to the Lunar Kanza and says she was impressed by the atmosphere.
The event featured several first time Lunar Kanza riders who have also participated in the Dirty Kanza. Dean Bushnell of Kansas City says the event and block party atmosphere made for a good time.
Executive director Jim Cummings says the event which included a block party is focused on bringing together riders from across the region.
The fourth annual event was highlighted by its largest gathering of cyclists and roughly three dozen runners who took part in the night run, also the largest turnout in the event's history.
