Tallgrass Preserve adding repair projects

Remember The Fixx song "One Thing Leads to Another?"

Well, that's pretty much the situation at the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve.

Superintendent Wendy Lauritzen, KVOE's Newsmaker guest Tuesday, said lead and mold abatement efforts in the main house have led to other significant issues.

At this time, it's unclear if the preserve has to do a thorough re-wiring.

But wait, there's more. Preliminary investigation into the electrical issues has now turned up concerns about some of the stone work.

Lauritzen says the preserve is bringing in specialists to see exactly how widespread the issues are. Costs are unclear. Lauritzen says the preserve has to submit budget requests two years out, so there is some concern about how much money can be set aside for repairs.
