Westar helping power restoration effort in Oklahoma after ice storm

OGE Energy Group is receiving help from Westar Energy as the power provider struggles to restore power after a massive ice storm in southeast Oklahoma.

Westar spokesperson Erin La Row tells KVOE News thick coatings of ice can be devastating to power equipment.

Over 30 Westar staffers are headed to Muskogee, Okla., on Friday. Westar may send crews to additional states if asked.

As much as 1.5 inches of ice has been reported in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area because of the winter storm.
