Man gets truck stuck in barricade after trying to drive around it

Update 5:00 PM September 11, 2016

A 77-year-old man thought it would be a good idea to try and drive around a water barricade.
He ended up making the situation worse and inevitably got stuck in the high water.
Senior citizen Richard Bennett called 911 around noon yesterday (SUN) after his vehicle could no longer drive through the high water. Lyon County Deputies and the Emporia Fire Department responded to the phone call.
The Emporia Fire Department deployed a rescue boat to Bennett and successfully transferred him onto dry land. The vehicle is still stuck in the water.
Bennett received a citation for driving around the barricade.
Deputy Jacob Welsh implores people to obey traffic signs, barricades, and signals in place. Failure to obey these can result in a $75 fine and court costs upwards of $108. This doesn't include money towards the towing fees, insurance rates going up, and potential mechanical upgrades to your vehicle.
Welsh's advice is turn around and don't drown.

A man tried to drive around a barricade on the 700 block of Road 160, and his attempt turned out to be very unsuccessful.
