Students rush to renovated Trusler Hall; General Assembly touches on big plans in the works

The newly-renovated Trusler Residence Hall is open, and the freshmen are moving in. Assistant Director of Residential Life Paul Jacobsen-Miller says people were "chomping at the bit" to move in since Sunday, and now they face a unique problem.

Sooner than you may realize, Old Man Winter will give way to severe weather season in Kansas.

The schedule for local storm spotter training classes has been finalized. Emporia won't have a spotter training class until March, but National Weather Service meteorologist Chad Omitt says the course will still cover weather preparedness and emergency plans.

Fundraising continues through the seventh annual Playhouse Project.

This year, the project could be considered the first annual Shed Project after construction of a roughly $3,000 garden shed currently on display at Flint Hills Technical College. Regardless, proceeds benefit scholarships at Emporia State University and the tech college.
