Now that City Manager Matt Zimmerman has announced his resignation and his decision to take over the city manager post in Hazelwood, Mo., Zimmerman is looking forward to the future and back on his over six years leading Emporia's city government.

Outgoing Emporia City Manager Matt Zimmerman hopes he is leaving the city in better shape than it was when he came to town over six years ago.

Zimmerman's farewell reception was held at White Auditorium Little Theater on Thursday. He becomes the city manager of Hazelwood, Mo., this weekend.

Saturday was a good night for zombies, and the Emporia Police Department's second annual Zombie Run featured lots of the undead in and around downtown Emporia.
