The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism has confirmed the presence of zebra mussels in Pomona Reservoir in Osage County.

He says the two cities have a similar small-town flavor, aside from the fact Hazelwood is closer to a major city. He says the economic development opportunities in Hazelwood are appealing.

Now that City Manager Matt Zimmerman has announced his resignation and his decision to take over the city manager post in Hazelwood, Mo., Zimmerman is looking forward to the future and back on his over six years leading Emporia's city government.

Outgoing Emporia City Manager Matt Zimmerman hopes he is leaving the city in better shape than it was when he came to town over six years ago.

Zimmerman's farewell reception was held at White Auditorium Little Theater on Thursday. He becomes the city manager of Hazelwood, Mo., this weekend.
