Crews were called to 1426 Walnut just after 1 pm where they discovered a fire had developed on the back deck of the residence. Crews managed to extinguish the fire which only scorched a few boards which were removed.

Upon closer inspection firefighters found some smoldering leaves and debris under the deck according to Battalion Chief Tony Fuller, however, the fire did not spread to any other areas. No damage occurred to the inside of the home aside from some odor due to smoke.

Traffic was blocked in all directions on Walnut from 13th to 15th as crews responded to the call.  No injuries were reported. 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Damage estimates are pending.
