Lyon County starts the week with the ninth-most coronavirus cases in Kansas -- but well behind the state leaders in that category.


Lyon County Public Health says the county now has 493 confirmed or probable positive cases, as well as 461 recovered patients, 24 active cases and seven deaths. The number of active cases has been in the 20s since June 19, and the number of deaths has been stable for a week.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says Wyandotte County has the most overall cases at 2,108. Ford County is second at 1,983. Other counties in the top 10:

*Fourth: Finney County, 1,536
*Fifth: Leavenworth County, 1,146
*Sixth: Sedgwick County, 1,072
*Seventh: Seward County, 956
*Eighth: Shawnee County, 567
*Ninth: Lyon County, 493
*Tenth: Crawford County, 246

For our neighboring counties, Coffey County has the most overall cases at 53 and the most deaths at eight. There is one active case. Wabaunsee County has 33 cases, of which one is active.

Greenwood and Osage counties each have 11 total cases. At last word, both counties have an active case.

Morris County has five total cases. None are active. Chase County has four total cases with one active case.
